Florida '10: Launch day
Launch day: The main reason for me going to Florida. Unfortunately we couldn't get tickets to view the launch from the NASA causeway, which is the closest the regular public can view a launch, so we opted for the city of Titusville, which is about the closest the public can view a launch without needing tickets. We were still some 19.5 kilometers (12 miles) away from the launch pad, but we could still see the launch extremely well. And a minute later we could hear it pretty well too. Because of the distance the sound wasn't earth shattering, but we could hear the bass rumble of the launch as well as the crackle of the engines.
There was a good crowd gathered in Titusville so the traffic was pretty bad in and out of town. Thankfully we got there early and secured a good spot.
